2018 Team Projects


BSYC 2018 PROJECTS and INFORMATION

Below you will find a description of the 4 teams available this year. At times a project many not materialize for various reasons and may need to be canceled. We hope you will understand this and accept the change with a good attitude, redirecting your enthusiasm and energy to the new team in which you are placed. Please bring thetool requirementfor your first choice of teams, with the understanding that you might be moved to another team. 

*All of the teams will also have the opportunity to help some on the construction of the Bethany Presbyterian Church addition, so appropriate work clothes and shoes will be needed.*Campers will get sweaty and dirty, so all teams must bring an extra change of socks and underwear for each day and a plastic bag for dirty clothes! At camp registration you will find out which team you are on. Please indicate your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices on the registration form. 

1. Bethany Work Team:This team will mostly do work under master carpenters to put up the walls in an addition to the Bethany Presbyterian Church. Other work duties may also be required.

Tools required:Notebook, pen, Bible, flashlight, sunscreen, insect repellant, hat, work gloves, hammer, sturdy tennis shoesNO open-toes shoes when doing construction! 

2. Lydia VBS Team:This team will put on a Vacation Bible School at the Lydia Presbyterian Church, generally from 9:00 to 11:30, for children ages 6 to 9, Monday through Friday. This team will be singing, making crafts, playing games, telling Bible stories, etc. Other work duties will also be required.

3. Missional Team:This team will be doing different ministry each day in different areas of the countysuch as Food Bank service, preparing packets for Haiti teachers, etc. Service will culminate in a ministry launch in Joanna. You will receive special instruction on hospitality, developing wholesome friendships, and skills in cultural sensitivity and mission outreach. Other work duties may also be required.

4. Journalism Team:Under the leadership of Judith Brown (Journalism), Suzanna Codington (Videography), this small group will report on camp activities and prepare a camp video and written resources on camp life. Minimum age of participant is 15; only 3 responsible teens will be selected for this team.

Note that Journalists will participate during the day in the activities of one other team; in the late afternoons and evenings, will work with Suzanna to edit  the day's video clips to create an end of the camp video ; they may also be pulled from their work teams at any time to help Mrs. Judith with typing and compiling the week's "diary" entries for a take-home flyer.
